Boy, you guys are spoiled. Nick is waiting for me for not posting and now I see Kayleen had a comment. What can I say – we’ve been boring. So now I have something to write about: our visit to Atlanta. I hope that after I get done writing this, I’ll post pictures as well.

We flew in this past Thursday. Getting up at 4:00 in the morning was no piece of cake, but we do what we have to do. We noticed on our ticket that at our stop in Denver, the connecting flight was boarding before ours arrived. Uh-oh…no problem tho as the next flight took off at the gate next door to ours. We got off one plane, and directly boarded the other.

Nick and Ash both came to pick us up at the airport. We got a tour of Atlanta due to all the traffic on the freeway (or expressway, or whatever they call it back there). So we went in and out of streets in their new Scion TC (nice car!). Was pretty interesting since I had only been to the ATL airport before and never the city itself.

Their apartment is the bottom of one of the residence halls, directly across a small street from the Georgia Tech stadium. They have 2 bedrooms, 1 bath. The building was built in 1925, so it looks like things we added as they became available. Want a fire system, just run conduit and add it. But they’ve decorated it to be a home and that’s the most important thing. Nice job Ashley. (Especially the new plasma TV, right Nick?)

What followed were 3 days of eating – which is well, my kind of vacation. We ate at the Vortex, which included tater tot fondue. The Mellow Mushroom had some of the best pizza I’ve tasted. We were just getting warmed up as then we did the Taste of Atlanta, with over 80 restaurants represented.  I was so stuffed after that, I thought I’d never eat again. Wrong! We tired a Southern restaurant (what was the name of it?), and we were a bit dissapointed. The last day we went to the Silver Skillet. Complete with an older gal saying “y’all”, it was great. The best part of this was that I gained no weight on the trip. Don’t know how that happened.

We visited Coca Cola World and were disappointed. The best part of it was trying Coke from around the world. Everyone told us not to try Italy, but of course Danny did, and of course he convinced Nick to try it too, even tho it tasted like medicine. We walked to the Underground from there, which was fun. Then went back and just chilled. This was nice too, to just relax, watch a movie and visit.

On the way back, the flight got off late. We thought the connection would still be no problem – except this time the gate was about 10 away, on the other side of the terminal. They were calling our name as we ran thru the airport. Luckily they re-opened the entry gate for us. Lucky for us too, our luggage made the connection.

All in all, it was a quick trip. Nick and Ash told us we can’t go back unless we bring more Sees Candy. We told them they have to come out here and get it in person. Hmmm. they’ve already got their tickets for Thanksgiving. Think they want to see us or the Sees store???

Other that this event, things have been pretty mellow. Cody and Luke have been reffing soccer games. Luke got kicked off his soccer team, due to a weird incident between Danny and his coach. It doesn’t matter much tho as Luke did make the Canyon freshman team. So where we planned our fall around soccer, we find instead we have time to….shop!

Lani is doing good at OCHSA. She just brought home her 1st progress report and has wonderful grades. It took her about, oh, 2 days to make the school her own. She says she’s there to learn, and she is.

Let’s see, we also saw a great bunch of friends a few weeks ago as we saw Ben Haines off to Iraq. Since Rick and Linda won’t be having their usual (for over 30 years) New Year’s Day Recovery Party this year, we got to catch up on people a bit early. We will see them this weekend as we take a River Boat harbor cruise. But they’ll be in Japan visiting Jen this Jan 1, so we’ll have to wait for next year. Since we were in Mexico last Jan 1, guess we had this coming!

Ok, enough for now. Time to see if I can get the pictures posted.
