Here are the Thanksgiving photos
Ok, so I had a big surprise today. We had already agreed that we weren’t going to fly Nick home for Thanksgiving this year. Last year we realized that as soon as he got home, he had to turn around and fly back for Christmas and New Year’s. Nick had no problem with this and made plans to cook Thanksgiving with Ashley, her mom and grandma. Well, this is how the story was told to me at least, and I fell for it hook, line and sinker.
I come walking thru a locked front door today (it’s rarely locked) to find Danny reclined. Wow, he’s not even getting up to greet me. The nerve. I took a further look, and there is Nick laying down on the couch, so I can’t see him at first glance. What? Nick? No way! Way!
Danny had decided about 6 weeks ago that he needed to boy to be here with his family, and they’ve been plotting ever since. The key is that they never told Cody, Lani or Luke, so there was no one to spoil the surprise. The only ones who new were Pam and Willie, and Dick and Kay – and they’d never tell me. Not even Diane, Keith or TJ know – and they won’t until Thanksgiving Day unless they peek into our blog.
Special thanks to Ashley for graciously giving up Nick for the holiday. Seems as if Danny even called and cleared it with her before he made plans. Now that ’s a good guy!
Thanks for my surprise Danny and Nick – and a very happy Thanksgiving to you all.
Now that I’ve had two people remind me that I haven’t updated this site, thought I’d give a little insight to our Fall. After a busy every weekend summer, we’ve had a considerable slow down in our Fall. We’ve been staying in town and letting Cody and Luke ref soccer games every Saturday. This has put a lot of cash in their pockerts – but hey, it’s hard getting yelled at every game. They’ve earned every dollar.
This past Friday night we saw the best high school football game we are bound to ever see. Cody’s Canyon team was down 35-14 with less than 5 minutes to go in the game. After some crucial turnovers, and a 2 point conversion, we ended up winning 36-35. It was emotional to say the least. It also created a 3 way tie for 2nd place. 3 coaches came to the field after to flip coins to see who would move onto the CIF playoffs. Canyon’s arch-rival Villa Park, ended up odd man out and is now out of the playoffs. Because Canyon beat Tustin, we ended up in 2nd place. The playoffs start this Friday…and we thought football was over!
Thanksgiving is next week and we look forward to a wonderful holidaty with Diane, Keith and the Honjiyo family. We don’t know about Kim and Eric. Kelly and Nick won’t be home this holiday. It will be different and smaller than we’re used to, but we’ll make the best of it. After dinner, Rick and Linda will join us for dessert before we all head up to Big Bear. Snow anyone?
