We spent 4th of July at Rick and Linda’s place at Lake Havasu.  We only had Luke and Lani with us as Cody was with Bernie, visiting Mary in San Francisco.  Luke got to drive the golf cart and be towed on the inner tube to his heart’s content.  He even drove the boat a bit.  The channel was interesting to say the least.

We had to leave a day early to take the kids up to the mountains to Camp Bravo, a performance art camp.  Their tract was musical theater.  Many of you heard of the evacuations from Barton Flats?  Well our kids were amongst them.  Theirs was the only camp to return up the mountain.  But a night at Yucaipa High School, followed by one in the UC Riverside dorms, and they were ready to return.  Their experience was so wonderful, they’ve both begged us to let them go again next year.  Next year however, as incoming 9th graders, they won’t be eligible for the scholarships they won this year, so we’ll be saving all year long to make sure they get to attend.

Last Saturday night was our big friend’s get together.  We started out over 25 years ago getting the old college gang together.  As young parents, we looked for a way to be able to socialize, but yet include the kids.  Now that the kids are older, we’ve progressed onto poker.  The Texas hold ‘em was brutal.  We had 3 tables going, with the top 2 from each sent onto a winners table.  The big winner for the night (and a $60 winner’s pot), was Cody.  I think he’s watching way too much TV – he looked like a pro!

I’ll try to get all my pictures downloaded soon, so they can be added to the site.
